Fields-Ertel Road Westbound Right Turn Lane

Under Construction

Construction Timing:

March 2017 through August 2017

Traffic Impacts:

April 19, 2017
Various lane closures will be needed to support a new pattern of traffic in the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road intersection area, where our partners at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) continue work to improve safety and the flow of traffic.

Beginning at 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, lane closures will be in place at the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road intersection, ending just east of the Fields-Ertel Road & Royal Point Drive intersection.

Lane closures will be complete by 6 a.m. the following day, but if necessary, these lane closures will be in effect at the same time Thursday, April 20. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers.

The new traffic pattern will be two through lanes on east and westbound Fields-Ertel Road and one lane in each direction on Gregory Road. This pattern will be in effect until approximately the end of June.

All work is contingent upon weather. Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and lane closures.

To help ensure the safety of construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

Project Information:

A new right turn lane will be built for traffic moving westbound on Fields-Ertel Road and turning right onto the northbound on-ramp to I-71.

The new lane will begin at Royal Point Drive to the northbound I-71 on-ramp and connect with the existing dedicated right turn lane that allows traffic to turn right onto Mason-Montgomery Road.

This project will also add a new northbound lane on Gregory Road from Governor’s Way to Fields-Ertel Road, feeding into the northbound on-ramp for I-71.

Project Benefits:

The additional turn lane on Fields-Ertel will provide a dedicated lane for traffic moving westbound on Fields-Ertel Road and turning right onto the northbound on-ramp to I-71.

On Gregory Road, there is currently only one lane that continues straight to access the northbound I-71 on-ramp. After this project is completed, there will be two lanes that feed onto the interstate, therefore allowing more traffic to move through the signal.

This will help congestion in the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road area by providing a more continuous movement for turning and through traffic. This project builds off of the completed work that has already taken place at the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road interchange. You can read more about this work at AdvancingFieldsErtel.com.
