Fields-Ertel at Columbia Road Roundabout & Fields-Ertel at Rich Road Intersection Improvements

Under Construction

COMPLETED!

Project Information:

A new single-lane roundabout has been constructed at the intersection of Fields-Ertel Road and Columbia Road (recognized as Lebanon Road in Hamilton County). Drivers enter the roundabout and travel counterclockwise around a center island. Entering traffic must yield to vehicles that are already circulating the roundabout.

Pavement work has also been done on the portion of roadway in Hamilton County, and at the intersection of Fields-Ertel and Rich Road.

The Warren County Engineer’s Office and the Hamilton County Engineer’s Office partnered on this project.

Project Benefits:

To improve safety and travel through the intersection of Fields-Ertel Road and Columbia Road (Lebanon Road in Hamilton County), a single-lane roundabout has been built that includes a pedestrian sidewalk to the south and continuing into Symmes Township.

This roundabout design is recognized as an “urban” roundabout, meaning that the roundabout itself is smaller and therefore has less impact to surrounding properties than a more traditional roundabout that would require more space to be built. Because this intersection carries primarily residential traffic, but still experiences periodic delays, planners concluded that a continuous flow roundabout rather than traffic signal modifications.
