The following projects are now under construction. Click each box for road closure information related to each project.

Construction Info: Western Row Road & I-71 Interchange Improvements

This project will provide a new full movement interchange with northbound on- and off-ramps, as well as southbound on- and off-ramps, which will increase accessibility.

We wanted to share with you the following statement that was released by our partners at the Ohio Department of Transportation:

February 22, 2017

In the next few weeks ODOT will begin a nearly $21 million project to convert the existing Interstate 71 and Western Row Road (I-71/WRR) interchange into a full interchange with new ramps and auxiliary lanes.

The first phase of this I-71/WRR project will begin on Monday, February 27. This work includes clearing trees and brush along I-71 shown in the photo included in this email. This clearing must be completed prior to April so as not to negatively impact the Indiana Bat. During this time there will also be various utility relocations.

Major construction on this two-year project will start in early May. Most of this work will occur at night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will be very noisy. Also over the next two years various lane restrictions on I-71, Western Row Road and Kings Island Drive will be required. Media/traffic advisories will be distributed alerting the media and public of when these restrictions will be required.

If you would to like receive regular email updates regarding the I-71/WRR project please notify us via d08.pio@dot.ohio.gov to have your email address included on our distribution listing. If you do not have computer access or have additional questions regarding the project please contact ODOT Communications Manager Brian Cunningham (513) 933-6517.

Construction Info: Columbia Road Relocation

This project will support better traffic flow on Western Row Road by relocating Columbia Road and making improvements the northbound I-71 off ramp at Western Row.

There are no current impacts to traffic as a result of our work to relocate Columbia Road, but please be mindful of the new pattern of traffic in this area.

In advance of ODOT’s work at the I-71 & Western Row Road Interchange, the Warren County Transportation Improvement District (WCTID) has made significant improvements to Columbia Road.

Recently, traffic began using the new alignment on Columbia Road, and the new traffic signal at Western Row Road and the new intersection at the relocated Columbia Road became operational.

This project supports better traffic flow on Western Row Road by relocating Columbia Road and improving the existing northbound I-71 off-ramp. Extending the distance between the I-71 off-ramp intersection and Columbia Road and improving turn lanes allows drivers to move more easily through this area.

Originally scheduled to be completed by the end of September, crews are moving well ahead of schedule and expect to be completed with this work several weeks early. We will keep you posted on our progress as we near the end of this project work to ease congestion, improve safety and expand access to business and recreation destinations throughout the area.

More information about the Columbia Road Relocation is available on the project page.

Construction Info: Fields-Ertel Road Westbound Right Turn Lane

A westbound right turn lane will be built for traffic turning onto NB 71, as well as a new NB lane on Gregory Rd from Governor’s Way to Fields-Ertel.

April 19, 2017:

Various lane closures will be needed to support a new pattern of traffic in the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road intersection area, where our partners at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) continue work to improve safety and the flow of traffic.

Beginning at 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, lane closures will be in place at the Fields-Ertel & Mason-Montgomery Road intersection, ending just east of the Fields-Ertel Road & Royal Point Drive intersection.

Lane closures will be complete by 6 a.m. the following day, but if necessary, these lane closures will be in effect at the same time Thursday, April 20. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers.

The new traffic pattern will be two through lanes on east and westbound Fields-Ertel Road and one lane in each direction on Gregory Road. This pattern will be in effect until approximately the end of June.

All work is contingent upon weather. Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and lane closures.

To help ensure the safety of construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
